Fire District #3: Port Elizabeth Station 27
The Maurice River Township Board of Fire Commissioners Fire District Number 3 was established to provide financial stability for the Port Elizabeth Volunteer Fire Company. The Commission contracts with the Port Elizabeth Volunteer Fire Company to provide funds collected through special district taxes. The goal is to provide the community with trained fire and emergency services.
The responsibility of the Maurice River Township Board of Fire Commissioners Fire District Number 3 is to purchase and maintain equipment needed to provide professional fire and emergency services, as well as develop and oversee the special district budget.
The Maurice River Township Board of Fire Commissioners Fire District Number 3 holds monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. The meetings are open to the public. Advertisement of legal notices and meeting notifications are published in the South Jersey Times. Monthly agenda items include approval of minutes and bill list, correspondence, chief's report, old business, new business, committee reports, and other items for the good of the Commission.
The Maurice River Township Board of Fire Commissioners Fire District Number 3 holds an annual election for the position of Fire District Commissioner(s) and Budget Approval on the third Saturday of February. If anyone is interested in filing a petition as a candidate, you may contact the Boards Secretary for a petition. This petition must be turned into the Secretary no later than 28 days prior to the election.
Maurice River Township Board of Fire Commissioners, District Number 3 annually contracts with Port Elizabeth Volunteer Fire Company to provide fire suppression services. The contract amount for calendar year 2014 is $26,431.
Port Elizabeth Volunteer Fire Company is the only vendor/entity to which payment is made that exceeds the purchasing threshold of $17,500.
Authorizing Regular Meeting Schedule for the 2018 to 2019 Year
WHEREAS, Public Law 1975, Chapter 231, Section 13, requires a public body to post and maintain posted, to distribute to designated newspapers, and to further file with the Municipal Clerk for the purpose of public inspections, a schedule of the regular meetings of such public body to be held during the calendar year; and,
WHEREAS, such schedule of regular meetings is required to contain the location of each meeting, to the extent that it is known, and the time and date of each meeting; and,
WHEREAS, Public Law 1975, Chapter 231, Section 3-D, provides that where the annual notice or revisions thereof, in compliance with sections of the subject act, set forth the location, time and ate of any meeting, no further action shall be required for such meeting.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Commissioners of Fire District Number 3 in the Township of Maurice River, in the County of Cumberland, as follows:
(1) All regular meetings of the Commissioners shall take place on the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. with caucus meetings to be held at 6:30 p.m. when needed, at the Port Elizabeth Fire House, 7 Port Elizabeth Cumberland Road, Port Elizabeth, NJ.

(2) A summary of this resolution shall be mailed to South Jersey Media and The Daily Journal.
(3) A summary of this resolution shall be posted and shall be maintained on the official bulletin board of the Township of Maurice River, shall be posted on the official bulletin board of the Commissioners, and shall also be kept on file by the Municipal Clerk for purposes of public inspection.
This Resolution is hereby adopted by the Maurice River Township Board of Fire Commissioners, Fire District Number 3 at the annual reorganization meeting held on March 7, 2018.
